When will you announce the winners of this year's festival?
February 10th.

Are there awards?
Yes. Awards will be presented to the best film in each of the main competitive categories along with numerous Special Jury Prizes.  Screenplay awards are awarded for Overall Grand Prize along with 1st through 5th place winners and 10 Official Finalists.

How are the winners selected?
Films submitted to the event are reviewed by our programming department and judges, which evaluates each project fairly and thoroughly, looking for the best in new American and International cinema and screenwriting.

What is the submission fee?

How long is a short film?
Films under 50 minutes are considered short films.

What are the categories of films accepted?
MFF accepts films of all categories and genres. If we do not have an official category for your film, but we like it, a new category will be created especially for it.

Is there a student fee?
Yes, students may subtract $10 from their entry fee. Please email us for a FilmFreeway discount code and inlcude a copy of yoru student ID along with the email.

Do you accept rough cuts/work-in-progress?
Yes, we will review and consider rough cuts and works-in-progress.


Can I still submit if my film has distribution or has aired on television?
Yes.

Does my film need to be a World Premiere?
A film does not have to be a premiere to submit to the festival.

Can I submit more then one film?
Yes.

What are the sections of the competition where my film might receive an award?

If my film is not chosen, may I speak with a judge for notes or feedback?
Unfortunately we are unable to give individual feedback as to why a film or screenplay may not have received or been selected to receive an award.
